Scopyons playing Blackout & Rock You Like A Hurricane with Matthias Jabs in Munich 16-3-2013
Scopyons just returned from the MJ Guitar Store 5th Anniversary party in Munich on 16th March where, not only did we play an hour long set but, we got to play 2 songs ‘Blackout and ‘Rock you Like A Hurricane’ with Matthias Jabs himself! what a genuinely nice guy he is and he couldn’t do enough for us and it was truly a day to remember for us all.
In a 90 degree plus heat, the hottest any of us had ever experienced onstage we can honestly say we had a ball and also made lots of new friends along the way. Special thanks especially to store manager Stefan Eyernschmalz who made the whole day possible for us and thank you for everyone who had pictures taken with us and complimented us on the show……Can we do it all again?
More footage and photos coming soon!
We are sorry to end on a sad note we were devastated to learn upon our arrival home that Daz’s dad Leon had sadly passed after a long battle with cancer and Daz has asked me to post this on the Scopyons FB page on his behalf.
“All my friends if you’ve ever seen any of the band’s I’ve been in you probably met my dad at some stage he loved music and the only reason I was in bands was because of his support, all I ever wanted to so was make him proud for the past couple of years he has battled cancer with his usual strength and humor he was my hero, a fantastic dad ,and devoted grandfather, on Thursday he collapsed and I had to make the decision as to go to Munich to perform along side the scopyons and my hero – Matthias jabs, when he became concious he insisted I should go. I left him in the care of the amazing team on ward D3.
We played our heart’s our for him.
Unfortuatly he lost his brave battle last night and left this world behind. Can I ask you spare him a thought and support the forthcoming event on April 20th in aid of a fantastic cancer charity.
Scopyons invited to play at the 5th Anniversary Party of MJ Guitars in Munich on the 16th March 2013.
MJ Guitars is the brand is owned by none other than Scorpions guitarist Matthias Jabs and as part of the 5th Anniversary celebrations Matthias and store manager Stefan Eyernschmalz have invited us over to play an in store set on Saturday 16th March 2013 at the Munich store. Matthias will join us for two or three songs so not only do we get the chance to join in the celebrations but we also get the chance to meet and play alongside one of our heroes.
What an amazing endorsement as a UK tribute band to be invited to play in Germany by one of the band themselves!

Welcome to the home of The Scopyons
“Fantastic band, I would recommend the band to anyone, venues or fans of the Scorpions!!!” :
Ray Bispham – Jolly Tar, Nantwich & Former manager of The Limelight Club in Crewe
So why are we called sCOPYons? Hopefully the capital letters method of spelling the name will explain the name is just simply we are a COPY of the Scorpions but it also is given more meaning because its also what Klaus Meine sounds like he is saying when he says Scorpions…………Founder member Nige did have to explain this even to certain intelligent friends and members of the band.
The embers of The Scopyons were formed in late 2011 when 5 North West based musicians decided to get together a definitive UK based tribute to the great German Rockers The Scorpions. The band was founded by Nige Roberts, better known to some as the lead vocalist for reformed Liverpool NWOBHM rockers Marseille who toured the UK extensively back in the late 70′s with Judas Priest, Whitesnake, UFO, Gillan and Nazareth. Nige joined Marseille in February 2009 and recorded an ep called Fourplay and a full album called Unfinished Business and the band toured the UK and also appeared at the prestigious Hard Rock Hell Festival in Prestatyn. Nige had some down time after the re-launch of Marseille and he turned to fellow North West musicians Daz Green, Barry Lowe, Paul Anderson and Phil Gavin to finally put together a definitive UK Scorpions tribute, something the lads had long since talked about but Nige’s Marseille commitments had previously taken priority.
Scopyons have a leaning toward the post Uli Jon Roth era (1978 Lovedrive up to the present day) and as 2012 is officially the real Scorpions last year of year on year touring there probably has never been a more perfect time to unleash the UK’s first full 5 piece definitive Scorpions tribute band and YES they do ‘sometimes’ play Wind Of Change!!!!
